D J - M A I L (c) 1993
Prints a return address and mailing address on a #10 envelope using a
Hewlett Packard Deskjet Printer.
D J - M A I L is a commercial program and is copyrighted. It is
distributed using the Shareware marketing concept. The Shareware
concept allows you to try the fully functional program on your own
computer before you buy it. If you continue to use D J - M A I L
or keep it for when you might use it, then you MUST send the
$10 registration fee to the author.
When you register D J - M A I L you will receive:
A copy of the latest version of D J - M A I L and removal of the
annoying time delayed Registration Screens and the removal of
(***UNREGISTERED***) from the main menu screen. In addition you
will recieve the ability to print a one time mailing address. You
do not necessarily always want to store infrequently used
addressess.
USING D J - M A I L
Load DJMAIL from the command line. DJMAIL is designed to use #10
envelopes. The first thing you want to do is to add your return
address to the return address data base. You do this by selecting
menu item "2. ADD NEW RETURN ADDRESS". You will be lead through
the data items needed:
ADD A NEW RETURN ADDRESS
NAME R1: (your name goes here)
STREET R2: (your street goes here)
CITY R3: (your city goes here)
PROVINCE R4: (your province or state goes here)
POSTAL CODE R5: (your postal or zip code goes here)
You may want to add return addresses for your wife and kids and work as
well.
Now when you select menu item "1. CHOOSE RETURN & MAILING
ADDRESSES" you will see your name listed under return addresses as
item #1 and my name listed under mailing addresses and item #1.
Choosing item #1 for both return and mailing address will set you
up to print an envelope in which to send your cheque to register
for this program. HOW CONVIENIENT. After making these two
selections you will be returned to the main menu. From here you
may either go ahead and print your envelope or view it on the
screen, simply by selecting either "5. PRINT ENVELOPE" or "4. VIEW
CHOICES".
Refer to the Deskjet 500 Printer, Owner's Manual for instructions
on loading #10 envelopes. But basically all you have to do is bend
the envelope so it fits into the two envelope guides on the top
tray and push it forward flattening it out until it reaches the
feed rollers and stops. Then push the up and down PRINTER ARROW
KEYS SIMULTANEOUSLY to load the envelope. Select item "5. PRINT
ENVELOPE" from the main menu and voila you will have a neatly
printed envelope.
If you wish to print more than one envelope with the same
information you can continously select item "5. PRINT ENVELOPE" and
print as many copies as you wish.
You can also print envelopes with only return addresses or
envelopes with only mailing addresses by selecting blank records
from item "1. CHOOSE RETURN & MAILING ADDRESSES.
To add a new mailing address, select item "3. ADD NEW MAILING
ADDRESS" and follow the prompts as you did for adding a new return
address.
ADD A NEW MAILING ADDRESS
NAME M1: (name goes here)
STREET M2: (street goes here)
CITY M3: (city goes here)
PROVINCE M4: (province or state goes here)
POSTAL CODE M5: (postal or zip code goes here)
Note: You may only have a maximum of 10 return addresses and 10
mailing addresses. In the registered version you also have the
ability to create mailing addresses that are not stored, for use on
a one time basis.
The program does not allow editing of the stored data. Future
versions may have this ability if enough people want it. The
files, RETADD.DAT and MAILADD.DAT may be edited with any DOS type
editor. You may want to do this to get rid of my address after you
have registered of course. If you delete the two .DAT files the
program will create them when you add new return and mailing
addresses. If you delete the .DAT files you should add new return
and new mailing addresses before trying to use any of the other
features. I hope you find this program usefull and encourage your
suggestions and comments.
